A Warm, Drizzly, & Foggy Morning At KK Integrated Logistics On Dec. 30

Around 7:30 a.m., the KK Integrated Shipping barge & tug, Lewis J. Kuber/Olive L. Moore, arrived in Menominee for winter lay-up. After backing into the Menominee River and passing through the Ogden Street (Menekaunee) Bridge, the duo backed in to dock at the KK East Dock. After the barge was tied up, the tug, Olive L. Moore, backed out of the "notch" in the barge and headed up-river to dock at the KK West Dock.

Also in port was the Pere Marquette 41, which arrived last night around 7:30 p.m. at the facility and began loading more of the medium-sized rocks for the project on lower Lake Michigan. By late morning, the barge was just about loaded, departing mid-afternoon despite a heavy fog cover (see photos in the section below this on the "2010 Menominee & Marinette Ships" page - click the link at top of this page). This was the 83rd commercial vessel in Menominee & Marinette for the 2010-2011 shipping season; a number unheard of in recent years!
