Pere Marquette 41/Undaunted Arrives in Menominee.

Around 3 a.m. on Monday, May 5, 2008, the tug and barge arrived at Marinette Fuel & Dock with a load of pig iron. Work needed to be done on the barge's bow thruster, so they disengaged the tug, and then partially unloaded the barge from the bow to about 3/4 of the way astern. This action, along with adding ballast water to the stern, raised the bow thruster tunnel above the water so the work could be done; of course, this also lowered the stern to where it looked like the barge was sinking. For the rest of that day and most of the next two, welders were seen at the worksite as the problem with the bow thruster was repaired. Around 7 p.m. on May 7, unloading of the remainer of the pig iron began. By about 10 p.m., the unloading was finished, the barge was brought back to an even keel, the tug was back in the notch, and the duo slid away from the dock far enough to clear the William H. Donner, which was behind it, before turning around in the inner harbor prior to departure.
